EAST PALO ALTO, San Mateo County — October 23, 2026. California58 Local examined a public agency’s current records for this report. Descriptions of proposals, hearing schedules, permits and projected effects are not treated as completed actions or future guarantees.

How many seats are open?

East Palo Alto’s official election page says two City Council positions are on the November 3 ballot, each for a four-year term beginning in December 2026. The city identifies seven nominees. Publishing an official nomination list should not be confused with predicting how many votes any person will receive.

Who appears on the city list?

The City Clerk names Holifa Windom, Gail Wilkerson Dixon, Ruben Abrica, Sam Jimenez, Michael Mashack, Deborah Lewis-Virges and Ofelia Bello. The municipality provides links to candidate statements and related filings. Candidate statements represent each candidate’s own account and should be checked against public records when they contain factual claims.

How can voters compare candidates?

Review the official candidate statements, local campaign finance disclosures, prior City Council meeting records and public proposals on housing, water, infrastructure and safety. Two seats are being contested, and the ballot rules should be followed exactly as presented in the official San Mateo County voter guide.

What about voting places?

The city website points to San Mateo County Elections for official vote centers, ballot boxes and ballot tracking. Some city election website tables still show location details to be determined, so readers should use the county’s live address-specific resources rather than assume an old location is open.
